JET
JET, or the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program, is an initiative designed to promote international exchange and enhance foreign language education in Japan. Launched in 1987, it invites participants from various countries to work as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) in Japanese schools, as well as Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) in local governments.
The program aims to improve English language skills among Japanese students and foster cultural understanding. Participants, often recent graduates, engage in teaching and community activities, helping to bridge cultural gaps and promote global awareness. JET has become a significant avenue for cultural exchange between Japan and other nations.
