JBOD
JBOD stands for "Just a Bunch of Disks." It is a storage architecture that combines multiple hard drives or solid-state drives into a single logical unit. Unlike traditional RAID configurations, JBOD does not require the drives to work together for redundancy or performance. Instead, each drive operates independently, allowing users to utilize the full capacity of each disk.
This setup is often used for data storage where redundancy is not a priority. It is simple to implement and can be cost-effective, making it suitable for applications like media storage or backup solutions where large amounts of data need to be stored without complex configurations.
