Jāņu diena
Jāņu diena, or Midsummer's Day, is a traditional Latvian festival celebrated on June 23rd. It marks the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, and is a time for celebrating nature, fertility, and the sun. People gather to sing folk songs, dance, and enjoy traditional foods, such as Jāņu siers, a special cheese made for the occasion.
The festival is rich in customs, including the lighting of bonfires and the weaving of flower crowns from wildflowers. Many Latvians also participate in rituals to ensure good harvests and to honor their ancestors. Jāņu diena is a vibrant expression of Latvian culture and heritage.
