Italian nobility
Italian nobility refers to the social class of aristocrats in Italy, historically holding titles such as duke, count, and baron. This class emerged during the Middle Ages and played a significant role in the political, economic, and cultural life of the country. Many noble families owned vast estates and were influential in local governance.
Over time, the power of the Italian nobility declined, especially after the unification of Italy in the 19th century. The abolition of feudal privileges and the establishment of a republic further diminished their status. Today, some noble families still exist, preserving their heritage and titles, but their influence is largely symbolic.
