Italian East Africa
Italian East Africa was a colonial territory established by Italy in the 1930s, encompassing present-day Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia. It was created to expand Italian influence in the Horn of Africa and was officially recognized by the League of Nations. The region was marked by significant Italian settlement and infrastructure development.
The territory lasted until the end of World War II, when Allied forces defeated Italy. Following the war, Ethiopia regained its sovereignty, while Eritrea was federated with Ethiopia in 1952. Somalia was also affected, eventually leading to the establishment of the independent state of Somalia in 1960.
