Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, also known as "Iz," was a Hawaiian musician and cultural icon born on May 20, 1959, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is best known for his unique blend of traditional Hawaiian music and contemporary styles, particularly his famous medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "What a Wonderful World." His soothing voice and ukulele skills have made his music beloved worldwide.
Iz was also an advocate for Hawaiian rights and culture, using his platform to promote awareness of issues facing the Native Hawaiian community. He released several albums during his career, and his posthumous album, "Facing Future," remains one of the best-selling Hawaiian albums of all time.
