Iron Gate Dam
The Iron Gate Dam is a hydroelectric dam located on the Klamath River in northern California. Completed in 1964, it is part of the Klamath Project, which aims to manage water resources for irrigation and power generation. The dam creates the Iron Gate Reservoir, which serves as a water storage facility and helps regulate river flow.
The dam has a height of 185 feet and a length of 1,200 feet. It generates electricity through its power plant, which has a capacity of 18 megawatts. The Iron Gate Dam also plays a role in fish management, providing fish ladders to support the migration of species like salmon.
