Ipratropium
Ipratropium is a medication commonly used to treat respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, making it easier to breathe. Ipratropium is often delivered through an inhaler or nebulizer, allowing for direct action in the lungs.
This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as anticholinergics, which block the action of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. By doing so, Ipratropium helps to reduce mucus production and open up the airways, providing relief from symptoms like wheezing and shortness of breath.
