Iowa Class
The Iowa Class refers to a class of battleships built for the United States Navy during World War II. These ships were designed for speed, firepower, and armor, featuring a displacement of around 45,000 tons. The class included four ships: USS Iowa, USS New Jersey, USS Missouri, and USS Wisconsin. They were equipped with nine 16-inch guns and served in various capacities during the war and beyond.
The Iowa Class battleships were notable for their advanced technology, including radar and missile systems. They played significant roles in major conflicts, such as the Korean War and the Gulf War, before being decommissioned. Today, some of these ships are preserved as museum ships, allowing the public to explore their historical significance.
