Inuvialuit Regional Corporation
The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) is an organization that represents the interests of the Inuvialuit people, who are Indigenous inhabitants of the western Arctic region of Canada. Established in 1984, the IRC was created as part of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement, which was a landmark land claim agreement that recognized the rights and land ownership of the Inuvialuit.
The IRC is responsible for managing the land and financial resources allocated to the Inuvialuit under the agreement. It also plays a key role in promoting economic development, cultural preservation, and community well-being among the Inuvialuit communities, which include Aklavik, Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk, and Paulatuk.
