International Harvester Company
The International Harvester Company was an American manufacturer founded in 1902, known for producing agricultural machinery, construction equipment, and vehicles. It played a significant role in the development of farming technology, introducing innovations like the mechanical reaper and tractors that helped increase agricultural productivity.
The company was formed by the merger of several companies, including McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and Deering Harvester Company. Over the years, it expanded its product line to include trucks and other machinery. However, by the late 20th century, the company faced financial difficulties and eventually ceased operations in 1985.
