Intercontinental Cup
The Intercontinental Cup was an annual football competition that featured the champions of the two major club tournaments: the UEFA Champions League from Europe and the Copa Libertadores from South America. Established in 1960, the tournament aimed to determine the best club team in the world. Matches were typically played in a two-legged format or as a single match at a neutral venue.
In 2005, the Intercontinental Cup was replaced by the FIFA Club World Cup, which expanded the competition to include champions from other continents. Despite its discontinuation, the Intercontinental Cup remains a significant part of football history, showcasing legendary clubs like Real Madrid and Boca Juniors.
