Indian Grey Hornbill
The Indian Grey Hornbill is a medium-sized bird native to the Indian subcontinent. It has a distinctive curved bill that is mostly yellow with a black tip, and its plumage is predominantly grey with white underparts. This bird typically inhabits forests, woodlands, and urban areas, where it can often be seen foraging for fruits, insects, and small animals.
These hornbills are known for their unique nesting behavior. The female seals herself inside a tree cavity with mud and droppings, leaving only a small opening for the male to feed her and the chicks. This protective strategy helps safeguard the young from predators and environmental threats.
