Independent Labour Party
The Independent Labour Party (ILP) was a political party in the United Kingdom, founded in 1893. It emerged from the desire to represent the interests of the working class and promote socialist principles. The ILP aimed to provide an alternative to the mainstream political parties, advocating for social justice, workers' rights, and public ownership of key industries.
The party played a significant role in the early development of the British Labour movement and was instrumental in the formation of the Labour Party in 1900. However, over time, the ILP's influence waned, and it eventually dissolved in 1975, with many of its members joining the Labour Party.
