Independence-class
The "Independence-class" refers to a class of littoral combat ships (LCS) used by the United States Navy. These ships are designed for operations close to shore and are equipped with advanced technology to perform various missions, including anti-submarine warfare, mine countermeasures, and surface warfare. The class features a trimaran hull design, which enhances stability and speed.
The first ship of this class, USS Independence (LCS-2), was commissioned in 2010. The Independence-class ships are notable for their modular design, allowing for quick reconfiguration to adapt to different mission requirements. This flexibility makes them valuable assets in modern naval operations.
