Inchworm
The inchworm is a common name for the larvae of certain moths, particularly those in the family Geometridae. These caterpillars are known for their unique movement, which resembles measuring an inch as they move in a looping fashion. They typically have a slender body and can vary in color, often blending in with their surroundings to avoid predators.
Inchworms are primarily found on trees and shrubs, where they feed on leaves. They play a role in the ecosystem as both herbivores and prey for various birds and other animals. As they mature, they eventually pupate and transform into adult moths, continuing the life cycle.
