Inaba Mythology
Inaba Mythology is a collection of ancient Japanese tales centered around the region of Inaba, located in present-day Tottori Prefecture. These myths often feature deities, spirits, and legendary creatures, reflecting the beliefs and values of the local culture. One of the most famous stories involves the White Hare of Inaba, which tells of a hare that tricks and is later helped by a group of brothers.
Another significant tale is the story of Kushinada-hime, a princess saved by the hero Yamato Takeru from the serpent Yamata no Orochi. These narratives highlight themes of bravery, compassion, and the relationship between humans and the divine in Shinto beliefs.
