Implosion
Implosion is a process where an object collapses inwardly due to external pressure being greater than internal pressure. This phenomenon can occur in various contexts, such as in buildings during controlled demolitions or in underwater structures when the surrounding water pressure exceeds the internal pressure.
In physics, implosion is often contrasted with explosion, where materials burst outward. A common example of implosion is seen in the demolition of old buildings, where explosives are strategically placed to ensure the structure falls inward, minimizing debris and damage to surrounding areas.
