Imani (Faith)
Imani, which means "faith" in Swahili, is one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, a celebration of African heritage and culture. It emphasizes the importance of believing in oneself, the community, and the potential for a better future. Imani encourages individuals to trust in their abilities and the collective strength of their community to overcome challenges.
In the context of Kwanzaa, Imani is celebrated on the sixth day of the holiday, which takes place from December 26 to January 1. The principle serves as a reminder to foster hope and resilience, drawing inspiration from the teachings of figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and the broader African American experience.
