Illawarra Steelers
The Illawarra Steelers are a professional rugby league team based in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Founded in 1982, they compete in the National Rugby League (NRL) and are known for their red and white colors. The team has a strong local following and plays its home games at the WIN Stadium in Wollongong.
In 1999, the Illawarra Steelers merged with the St. George Dragons, forming the St. George Illawarra Dragons. This merger allowed the Steelers to continue their legacy while competing at a higher level. The team has achieved notable success, including winning the NRL premiership in 2010.
