Igbo Mythology
Igbo Mythology is the traditional belief system of the Igbo people, an ethnic group from southeastern Nigeria. It encompasses a rich tapestry of gods, goddesses, and spiritual beings that govern various aspects of life, nature, and the universe. Central to this mythology is the belief in a supreme god, Chukwu, who created the world and oversees all other deities.
The Igbo also believe in ancestral spirits, known as ndichie, who play a vital role in guiding and protecting their descendants. Rituals, festivals, and storytelling are essential for preserving these beliefs, fostering community bonds, and passing down cultural values through generations.
