Ian Smith
Ian Smith was a prominent political figure in Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe. He served as the Prime Minister from 1964 to 1979 and was a key proponent of white minority rule during a time of significant political turmoil. His government declared independence from Britain in 1965, which led to international sanctions and conflict.
Smith's policies and leadership were controversial, as they resisted the push for majority rule and independence for the African population. After years of conflict, he eventually negotiated a settlement that led to the establishment of Zimbabwe in 1980, marking the end of his political career.
