IEEE 802
IEEE 802 is a set of standards developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for local area networks (LANs) and metropolitan area networks (MANs). These standards define how devices communicate over a network, ensuring compatibility and interoperability among different manufacturers' equipment.
The most well-known standard within IEEE 802 is IEEE 802.11, which governs wireless networking, commonly referred to as Wi-Fi. Other standards include IEEE 802.3 for Ethernet and IEEE 802.15 for wireless personal area networks (WPANs). Together, these standards facilitate reliable and efficient data transmission in various networking environments.
