ICOMOS
ICOMOS, or the International Council on Monuments and Sites, is a global organization dedicated to the conservation and protection of cultural heritage sites. Founded in 1965, it works to promote the understanding and preservation of monuments, landscapes, and sites of historical significance. ICOMOS collaborates with various stakeholders, including governments, non-governmental organizations, and local communities, to ensure that cultural heritage is safeguarded for future generations.
The organization plays a crucial role in advising the UNESCO World Heritage Committee on the nomination and management of World Heritage Sites. ICOMOS also conducts research, provides training, and develops guidelines to enhance the practice of heritage conservation worldwide.
