Hypothenar Muscles
The hypothenar muscles are a group of three muscles located on the ulnar side of the palm, responsible for the movement of the little finger. These muscles include the abductor digiti minimi, flexor digiti minimi brevis, and opponens digiti minimi. They play a crucial role in the fine motor skills of the hand, allowing for actions such as gripping and pinching.
These muscles are innervated by the ulnar nerve, which is essential for their function. The hypothenar muscles work in coordination with the thenar muscles, located on the opposite side of the palm, to facilitate complex hand movements.
