Hyperthermia
Hyperthermia is a medical condition that occurs when the body temperature rises significantly above the normal range, typically above 104°F (40°C). This can happen due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures, excessive physical exertion, or certain medical conditions. The body struggles to cool itself, leading to potential heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
Symptoms of hyperthermia may include confusion, rapid heartbeat, nausea, and excessive sweating. If not treated promptly, it can result in serious complications, including organ damage or death. It is important to stay hydrated and seek shade or cooler environments during hot weather to prevent hyperthermia, especially for vulnerable populations like the elderly or those with chronic illnesses.
