Hynek Classification System
The Hynek Classification System is a method used to categorize sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Developed by astronomer J. Allen Hynek in the 1970s, it classifies UFO encounters into three main types: Close Encounters of the First Kind (sightings), Close Encounters of the Second Kind (physical evidence), and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (contact with extraterrestrial beings).
This system helps researchers and enthusiasts better understand the nature of UFO reports. By organizing sightings based on their characteristics, the Hynek Classification System provides a framework for analyzing and discussing the phenomenon of UFOs in a structured way.
