Hunters Point Shipyard
Hunters Point Shipyard is a former naval shipyard located in the southeastern part of San Francisco, California. Established in the early 20th century, it played a significant role during both World Wars, serving as a repair and construction facility for naval vessels. The shipyard was officially closed in 1994 and has since been undergoing redevelopment.
Today, Hunters Point Shipyard is being transformed into a mixed-use community that includes residential, commercial, and recreational spaces. The area is also home to the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard Superfund Site, which is undergoing environmental cleanup to address contamination from its past industrial activities.
