Hungarian Romanians
Hungarian Romanians, also known as Szeklers or Székelys, are an ethnic group primarily found in Transylvania, a region in central Romania. They are descendants of the Hungarians who settled in the area during the Middle Ages. This group maintains a distinct cultural identity, characterized by their language, traditions, and customs.
The majority of Hungarian Romanians speak Hungarian as their first language and celebrate various cultural festivals that reflect their heritage. They are primarily concentrated in areas like Harghita and Covasna counties, where they contribute to the rich cultural tapestry of Romania while also facing challenges related to minority rights and representation.
