Hungarian Democratic Forum
The Hungarian Democratic Forum (MDF) is a political party in Hungary, founded in 1987. It emerged during the transition from communism to democracy, advocating for democratic reforms and a market economy. The party played a significant role in Hungary's first free elections in 1990, promoting national identity and conservative values.
Throughout the 1990s, the MDF was part of the government and contributed to Hungary's integration into the European Union and NATO. However, its popularity declined in the 2000s, leading to a decrease in parliamentary representation. Today, the MDF continues to exist as a smaller political entity, focusing on conservative principles.
