Hukbalahap Rebellion
The Hukbalahap Rebellion was an armed uprising in the Philippines that occurred from 1946 to 1954. It was led by the Hukbalahap, a group originally formed to fight against Japanese occupation during World War II. After the war, the group shifted its focus to opposing the government, which they believed was corrupt and favored the wealthy elite.
The rebellion was primarily concentrated in the Central Luzon region, where the Hukbalahap sought land reform and social justice for poor farmers. The Philippine government, with support from the United States, launched military operations to suppress the rebellion, ultimately leading to its decline by the mid-1950s.
