Hugh Carnarvon
Hugh Carnarvon, born in 1866, was a British aristocrat and Egyptologist best known for financing the excavation of Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings. His support for the archaeological work led to one of the most significant discoveries in Egypt's history, which took place in 1922.
Carnarvon's interest in Egyptology began after he inherited the title of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon. He collaborated closely with the archaeologist Howard Carter, who discovered the tomb. Unfortunately, Carnarvon died shortly after the tomb's opening, leading to various myths about a "curse" associated with the discovery.
