Hrvatska Demokratska Zajednica
Hrvatska Demokratska Zajednica, or HDZ, is a major political party in Croatia. Founded in 1989, it played a significant role in the country's transition to democracy and independence from Yugoslavia. The party is generally associated with center-right policies and promotes Croatian nationalism, economic liberalism, and European integration.
HDZ has been a dominant force in Croatian politics, often leading the government since the 1990s. The party's leadership has included notable figures such as Franjo Tuđman, Croatia's first president. HDZ continues to influence national policies and is a member of the European People's Party.
