Hoverflies
Hoverflies, also known as syrphid flies, are small insects belonging to the family Syrphidae. They are often mistaken for bees or wasps due to their similar appearance, but they are harmless and do not sting. Hoverflies are known for their unique flying ability, allowing them to hover in mid-air and perform agile maneuvers.
These insects play a crucial role in ecosystems as pollinators, helping to fertilize flowers while feeding on nectar and pollen. Many hoverfly larvae are also beneficial, as they feed on aphids and other garden pests, making them valuable allies for gardeners and farmers.
