Hormonal Patch
A hormonal patch is a small, adhesive patch that releases hormones into the bloodstream to prevent pregnancy. It typically contains a combination of estrogen and progestin, which work together to inhibit ovulation, thicken cervical mucus, and thin the uterine lining. The patch is usually applied to the skin on the arm, abdomen, back, or buttocks and is changed weekly for three weeks, followed by a patch-free week.
In addition to contraception, the hormonal patch can also help regulate menstrual cycles and reduce symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). It is a convenient option for those who prefer not to take daily pills and is effective when used correctly.
