Hormonal Agents
Hormonal agents are substances that influence the body's hormonal balance. They can be natural or synthetic and are often used in medical treatments to manage various conditions, such as hormonal imbalances, menopause symptoms, or certain types of cancer. Common examples include estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.
These agents work by mimicking or blocking the effects of hormones in the body. For instance, hormone replacement therapy uses hormonal agents to alleviate symptoms of menopause by restoring estrogen levels. In cancer treatment, some hormonal agents can slow the growth of hormone-sensitive tumors, such as those found in breast cancer or prostate cancer.
