Hookshot
A hookshot is a basketball shooting technique where a player uses one hand to launch the ball while extending their arm and using their wrist to flick the ball towards the hoop. This shot is often used when a player is close to the basket and needs to shoot over a defender. The hookshot is effective because it creates a high release point, making it difficult for opponents to block.
The most famous practitioner of the hookshot is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who perfected the move during his career in the NBA. His version of the hookshot, known as the "skyhook," was particularly notable for its height and accuracy, contributing to his status as one of the greatest scorers in basketball history.
