Hooded Vulture
The Hooded Vulture (*Necrosyrtes monachus*) is a large scavenging bird found primarily in parts of Africa. It is easily recognized by its distinctive hood-like feathers on the head and neck, which are dark brown to black. This species plays a crucial role in the ecosystem by feeding on carrion, helping to keep the environment clean.
Hooded Vultures are known for their excellent eyesight, allowing them to spot food from great distances. Unfortunately, they are currently classified as critically endangered due to habitat loss, poisoning, and decline in food sources. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this important species and its habitat.
