Honduran Lempira
The Honduran Lempira is the official currency of Honduras, introduced in 1931. It is named after the indigenous leader Lempira, who fought against Spanish colonization in the 16th century. The currency is abbreviated as HNL and is subdivided into 100 centavos.
The Lempira is issued in both coins and banknotes, with banknotes available in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 lempiras. The currency is used for all transactions within the country, and its value fluctuates against other currencies in the global market.
