Honduran League
The Honduran League, officially known as Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras, is the top professional football league in Honduras. Established in 1965, it features 10 teams competing in a round-robin format, where each team plays the others twice, once at home and once away. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the lower division, known as Liga de Ascenso.
The season is divided into two tournaments: the Apertura and Clausura. Each tournament culminates in playoffs, leading to a final match to determine the champion. The league is known for its passionate fan base and has produced several players who have gone on to represent the Honduran national team.
