Homestead Grays
The Homestead Grays were a professional baseball team based in Homestead, Pennsylvania. They played in the Negro Leagues from the 1910s to the 1950s and were known for their strong roster, which included several Hall of Fame players. The team was named after the Homestead Steel Works, a major local industry.
The Grays were particularly successful, winning multiple championships, including the Negro World Series. They played their home games at Pittsburgh's Forbes Field and were a key part of the African American baseball community during a time when segregation barred them from Major League Baseball.
