Hinkley Point B
Hinkley Point B is a retired nuclear power station located in Somerset, England. It was commissioned in 1965 and operated for over 40 years, generating electricity for the national grid. The facility used Magnox reactor technology, which was designed to produce low-cost energy while utilizing natural uranium as fuel.
The power station was officially closed in 2015, following a gradual decline in its operational efficiency. Decommissioning efforts are ongoing, focusing on safely dismantling the plant and managing radioactive materials. Hinkley Point B played a significant role in the UK's energy landscape during its operational years.
