Hinilawod
Hinilawod is an epic poem from the Hiligaynon people of the Philippines. It is one of the longest epics in the world, consisting of over 28,000 lines. The story follows the adventures of three brothers—Humadapnon, Datu Paubari, and Labaw Donggon—as they embark on quests filled with mythical creatures and challenges.
The epic is traditionally recited by a babaylan, or priestess, and serves as an important cultural artifact. It reflects the values, beliefs, and history of the Visayan people, showcasing themes of bravery, love, and the struggle between good and evil.
