Himalayan Vulture
The Himalayan Vulture, also known as the Himalayan Griffon, is a large bird of prey found primarily in the mountainous regions of the Himalayas. It has a wingspan of up to 3 meters and is characterized by its broad wings and a distinctive ruff of feathers around its neck. This vulture primarily feeds on carrion, playing a crucial role in the ecosystem by helping to dispose of dead animals.
These vultures are known for their impressive soaring abilities, often gliding at high altitudes in search of food. Unfortunately, the Himalayan Vulture faces threats from habitat loss and poisoning, leading to a decline in its population. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this important scavenger and its habitat.
