Highland Football League System
The Highland Football League is a semi-professional football league in Scotland, primarily featuring clubs from the northern regions. It operates at the fifth tier of the Scottish football league system, below the Scottish Professional Football League and above the North Caledonian Football League. Established in 1893, it has a rich history and includes teams from various communities.
The league consists of 18 teams that compete in a round-robin format, where each team plays every other team twice, once at home and once away. The season typically runs from August to April, culminating in promotion opportunities to the Scottish League Two for the top-performing teams.
