High-Frequency Sound
High-frequency sound refers to sound waves that have a high pitch, typically above 2,000 hertz (Hz). These sounds are often produced by instruments like flutes or violins and can be heard in nature, such as the chirping of birds. High-frequency sounds are important for communication and can be more easily absorbed by the environment than lower frequencies.
Humans can generally hear sounds ranging from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, with high-frequency sounds becoming harder to detect as people age. Exposure to loud high-frequency sounds, such as sirens or fireworks, can potentially cause hearing damage over time.
