Hermann the Cherusci
Hermann the Cherusci, also known as Arminius, was a chieftain of the Cherusci tribe in ancient Germania during the early 1st century AD. He is best known for his role in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD, where he led a coalition of Germanic tribes to defeat three Roman legions commanded by Publius Quinctilius Varus. This victory halted Roman expansion into Germania and is considered a significant event in European history.
