Herb Reed
Herb Reed was an American singer and a founding member of the popular vocal group, the Platters. Born on September 7, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, he played a significant role in shaping the doo-wop and rhythm and blues genres during the 1950s. The Platters became known for their smooth harmonies and hits like "Only You" and "The Great Pretender."
Reed's contributions to music earned him recognition, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. He continued to perform and promote the legacy of the Platters until his passing on June 4, 2012.
