Henry V of Germany was a Holy Roman Emperor who reigned from 1111 to 1125. He was the son of Henry IV and became known for his efforts to strengthen the imperial authority in the face of challenges from the papacy and local princes. His reign was marked by conflicts with the church, particularly with Pope Paschal II, over the investiture controversy, which involved the appointment of bishops.
During his rule, Henry V sought to expand his influence in Italy and maintain control over the German territories. He was also involved in various military campaigns, including efforts to assert dominance in Saxony and Lombardy. His reign ended with his death in 1125, leading to a succession crisis in the empire.
