Henry Segrave
Henry Segrave was a British motor racing driver and speed record holder, born on September 22, 1896. He is best known for his achievements in the early 20th century, particularly for setting world speed records on both land and water. Segrave's passion for speed led him to compete in various racing events, where he showcased his exceptional driving skills.
In 1929, Segrave became the first person to exceed 200 mph on land, driving the Golden Arrow at Daytona Beach, Florida. He also set a water speed record in 1930 with the Miss England, achieving a remarkable speed of 98.76 mph. Tragically, Segrave's life was cut short in a racing accident in 1930, but his legacy in motorsport endures.
